Didymocarpus pedicellata R. Br.

English Name : Stone flower

Family : Gesneriaceae

Description
A small herb with a reduced stem, bearing 2-3 pairs of opposite, roundly ovate, glabrous, gland-punctate leaves, 3-6 inches in diam.

Habitat
Valleys and on rocks from Himachal to Arunachal Pradesh of the subtropical Himalayas.

Parts Used : Root. leaf. plant and its essential oil


Herb Effects
Weak antimicrobial (plant oil)

Active Ingredients
Didymocarpene (essential leaf oil); pedicellin, pedicin, beta-sitosterol and pashanone (root); chalcones and flavonoids (plant).

Medicinal Use
Urinary tract infections (plant) and kidney and bladder stones (leaf).
